Collioure

The pearl of the Côte Vermeille

Collioure holds incomparable maritime and architectural treasures. A Catalan port, a fishing village, medieval heritage and the sunlit colours of the Mediterranean coast: you will understand why Matisse, Derain and Picasso chose to set up their easels here. A beautiful stop in the Pyrénées-Orientales, also known as the pearl of the Côte Vermeille.

Castelnou

A Catalan castle

Just 20 minutes from Perpignan, Castelnou castle is an essential symbol of the medieval era in Roussillon. Its history goes back to the 10th century. Occupied, coveted and abandoned several times, it witnessed a glorious Catalan past and remains the oldest surviving example of a medieval fortress in Roussillon. Converted into a country residence in the 19th century, it still bears the marks of its former owners. Acquired by the département in 2018, it is now undergoing extensive restoration.
