A one-hour signature massage
One hour to switch off and take time for yourself with this signature massage using essential oils. The practitioner combines a range of techniques, gathered through her training and experience in the spa world.
As you settle in, she will ask about your areas of tension and about any parts of the body to avoid. A bathrobe, slippers and disposable underwear are provided.
To make the massage entirely bespoke, she adapts her blend of massage oil to you. You can also choose the scent of the room by selecting the fragrance for the diffuser.
Once the massage is over, you can take all the time you need to come back to the present moment. You will then be invited to the relaxation lounge, or to settle beside the pool, to enjoy a herbal tea of your choosing.
The Californian massage
Often called the “touch of the heart”, Californian massage is a body-and-mind practice that emerged in the 1970s. It is a holistic approach that aims as much at relaxation as at bodily awareness: long, slow, flowing movements invite deep physical and mental relaxation.
The session begins with soft, enveloping effleurage, then the movements follow on and deepen to ease more stubborn tension. How well it works rests entirely on the relationship between practitioner and guest: attentive listening on one side, trust and letting go on the other.
Californian massage is valued for the sense of wellbeing and calm it brings, for the way its long movements accompany venous and lymphatic circulation, and for the reconnection with bodily sensations it allows.
It is a relaxation and comfort treatment, not a medical procedure, and is no substitute for medical advice or care. Do mention any particular circumstances to the practitioner before your session.
